Horst Tappe's portrait collection comprises around 1,000 people, 50,000 negatives and 20,000 prints. It is kept in the Archives of Montreux, Switzerland. An inventory was carried out, as well as the digitization of a selection of photographs.
A retrospective exhibition took place at the Ian Michalski Foundation in Montricher (Switzerland) in 2014. It made Horst Tappe's artwork and work known to Swiss and international audiences.
In 2014, a book was published by Till Schaap/Genoud Edition, presenting a selection of photographs, accompanied by a text by Jacques Roman and an interview of Jean Genoud by Daniel Girardin.
